Beavers

The Beaver section is the second youngest section within Scouting, aimed at children aged between 6 and 8 years. We like to think of the Beavers as smaller Cubs and Scouts, which means we do very similar activities, just with some slight adjustments for their size and age.

Over the two years that the Beavers are normally within the group, we will offer opportunities for hikes and nights away experiences, plus lots of other activities both within the group time and sometimes whilst at home. We work very hard to offer a lot of variation from one evening to the next all while teaching our young people life skills, having some fun and hopefully awarding an armful of badges in the process.

Usually we will aim to complete 2-3 badges per term which could include anything from carrying out experiments and learning first aid to being creative and learning about the world around us, with so much more besides. The ultimate goal is for them to get their Chief Scouts Bronze Award at the end of their 2 years.

During a typical Beaver Lodge meeting we will play some games and then carry out our main badge work for the evening.
Sometimes you’ll find us outside in our grounds, playing games or sitting around the fire pit, just like Scouts should.

We meet on Friday evenings from 6.30 to 7.45pm during school term times and usually have around 20 beavers within the group.

We are always looking for extra volunteers to help us on a Friday evening and actively run a parent rota which we encourage all parents to join in with at least once per term.
